 Jar Lights

Potpourri Candle Jar

Materials Needed:

  • 12 Ounce Jar
  • Potpourri of your choice
  • Votive candle
  • Candle holder the same size as the mouth of the jar
  • Shade (found in our computer crafts section)

Directions:

Fill the jar with the Potpourri (for this one, I used hot spiced cider with pinecones) leaving enough room for the candle holder to go inside the jar. Place the candle holder into the jar and the candle in it. Next, add the shade to the top. On this one, I suggest removing the shade before burning.

Mini Light String Jar Lamp

Materials:

  • Quart size canning jar or Vase
  • String of 20 mini White or colored Christmas type lights
  • Potpourri, beads, or something to fill the jar or vase with
  • 8x8 piece of round cloth (or doiley-something to cover the top with)
  • Rubber Band
  • Ribbon or cord

Directions:

Start with an empty jar or vase and alternate between adding potpourri and pushing the string of lights down into the vase. You may have to practice a few times to get it right - don't become discouraged (smiles). It's ok for some of the wire from the lights to show, you really won't notice it, but try to hide as much as you can and only have the lights showing.

You need to have the light bulb head pointing towards the outside of the jar and spread them evenly from bottom to top so you get the same amount of light.

Once you have that done, you need to cover the top. This can be done with many items. I chose to cover mine with cloth. You will need about an 8x8 round piece of cloth, and center it over the opening. Next, take a rubber band and put it over the cloth down onto the neck of the vase. On the small one, I tucked the cloth to make a bonnet looking top, but on the larget one I left it hanging down.

Then you need a piece of cord, string, or extra cloth to tie around where the rubber band is. Again, I used a cord on the small one, and extra cloth on the larger one.

That's about all there is to it! (smiles) It's a piece of cake, if i can do it, so can you!!

Here Are Some recent jars I made the same way for the holidays
